Today marks the one year anniversary of George Floyd's death
Today marks the one-year anniversary of George Floyd who was killed by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Floyds tragic passing sparked global outrage and led to worldwide protests speaking out against the systemic racism happening in America. And today his life has become a symbol in the fight for racial equality.
Today across several parts of America many will echo George Floyd's name to honour his legacy. His sister Bridgett Floyd followed by his daughter Gianna Floyd and his daughter's mother Gianna will also be visiting president Joe Biden later today to have a discussion.
Following George Floyd's death, Joe Biden introduced the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act which would invest in police training, ban the use of chokeholds and establish a national database of police misconduct. Although the bill has not yet become law, it is still a small step towards putting an end to racial injustice.
